Announcement of the MASCA Board of Directors
The United Miniature Australian Shepherd Club - UMASC
The MASCA Board of Directors has been
reviewing the situation in the “Mini-World“.
As we all know
recently AKC has decided to close
the studbooks for the Miniature
American Shepherds. This decision led
to tremendous negative feedback from breeders
around the world because they
see the quality
and genetic health of the breed
at risk. Prior to the closing of
the stud books breeders were experiencing serious issues regarding diverse breeding options for the
Mini. This has led to breeders realizing
that the breed is critically
limited genetically in many
areas world wide. The MASCA Board of Directors has decided
to take on this challenges and to give all reputable breeders and “Mini Aussie” lovers
the opportunity to participate in a new club with
a strong focus on the genetic health of the breed,
pared with excellent service to both breeders
and owners of Miniature Australian Shepherds
and Miniature American Shepherds. The MASCA Board of Directors proudly
announces their endorsement of the start of
the United Miniature Australian Shepherd Club (UMASC).
UMASC’s mission is to
maintain the Miniature Australian Shepherd breed as it
was intended without exclusion of dogs
who were solely derived from the Australian
Shepherd. They will be implementing rules and options which will not be held or
limited by old narrow-minded concepts. ALL UMASC
dogs will be granted dual registration with MASCA.
UMASC's purpose is not to eclipse or
replace MASCA but to be an extension of MASCA as a registration
service. Starting in 2025
UMASC will also offer a show
program. Further more UMASC
will be addressing the international Mini community as a whole.
The genetic diversity
world wide and prosperity of the
breed is their number one
priority at this time. We urge all MASCA members to support UMASC in their launch and mission to bring this breed
into the future.
